The Jewelry series are a collection of art works where parts of female bodies are decorated with accessories that do generally not comply with the traditional notion of jewelry in daily life. For instance, the seashells put strategically on the stomach or back of the model are not what people would generally term jewelry. However, they do definitely serve a decorative purpose that emphasizes timelessness given the naturalistic attributes of the accessory. The same applies to glassware based jewelry items that are used in other pieces. Whereas some jewelry items would generally date an image by indicating a certain fashion era, the selected accessory designs are timeless in their beauty and simplicity and add a certain visual appeal to the work that cannot be easily missed by the viewer.
The jewelry items in the series are selected in a manner that does not distract away from the visual beauty of the female figure. For example, little seashells placed on the bare back of a model in a line that traces her spine, doo not distract away with inappropriate lighting and consciously affirm the graceful line of the buttocks and the back by being placed symmetrically from the top of the buttocks to the top of the back. The truly perfect lines of the female silhouette are in this manner underlined across the different pieces. After all the true purpose of art is underscoring the beauty of the human form. This is well accomplished in the jewelry series.
The Jewelry Series underline thus the timelessness of female hood as reflected through the accessory items selected. Then images in this series affirm thereby that the interpretation of the human form is accomplished through complementary materials as jewelry; materials that offer striking contrast without being overly distractive. The female body does not necessarily have to be fully nude or fully captured to be sensual. The depiction of part of it in the manner done in these series is sufficient. This is because a certain tension is created by the jewelry items’ projection of shadows and light on the model. The tension in each image as a result of the inclusion of the small accessory details creates in its turn erotic edges to fairly conventional poses and angles.
