RWKC 7434 Kattie Wachendorf 10-10

Enchanting is one word to describe this masterpiece from Robert WK Clark. One would be reminded of fairies in the woods in this Flower Series, which features model Kattie Wachendorf and was created last October 2010 in New Mexico. Even though cool colors were used in this artistic image, one would not be reminded of gloom or doom. Instead, one would be reminded of happy days when an individual is wandering through the woods. In this work, Wachendorf is described as lying down on her back with her knees bent upward and her feet flat on the forest floor. She is resting on a bed of leaves and grass and parts of her torso and her intimate parts are covered by wonderfully-tinged blue and pink flowers. In this photograph, the visible parts of her body are her torso and a portion of her upper legs. This piece is a study on the gradation of warm colors to cool colors.  In this case, a tinge of orange transcends to red, then to purples, then to rich blues.  Warm colors are featured minimally.  Rest and relaxation amidst beauty is the series theme.

It is assumed that this was created in the woods. Amongst other Clarks work a mere illusion, only to be created in the artists controlled environment. The model is lying down and facing upward. One can only presume that she is glancing at the open sky or at the towering trees and appreciating nature surrounding her. The blue and pink flowers are a perfect accessory to mirror her mood of the appreciativeness of life. Even though some blue hues are associated with mystery and shyness, the particular blue hues used in this imagery brings out the softness of the subject’s skin and the blues that are employed in this work greatly liven up the entire piece. The model and the blue flowers take center stage in one of Clark’s finest works in his Flower Series. The clarity of the petals and the ridges of the flowers and leaves are defined in ways that make this creation real despite the obvious artificiality skin color and some of the flowers’ colors. Robert WK Clark’s artistic work is outstanding as it brings out the richness of the flowers and the emotions of happiness in appreciating life.
